The product line contains all kinds of raw silk yarn. The raw silk is reeled by our trading partners in Zhejang and Jiangsu provinces of China. Niltex puts a great emphasis on importing flawless raw silk threads with minimum denier dispersion and maximum tenacity. The most advanced technical equipments are utilized by our trading partners in the reeling process. Regular shipments from China ensures stock availability at all times.
Thrown silk yarn is generally utilized for weaving delicate silk fabrics. Threads of raw silk are twisted together in order to obtain flawless silk yarns. These yarns are utilized both for warping and wefting according to the nature of the desired fabric. Niltex provides its customers the most commonly used thrown silk yarns. The most common deniers are;
20/22 denier f1 Z800 x 2S700 (Organzine)
20/22 denier f1 Z725 x 2S625 (Organzine)
20/22 denier f1 S650 x 2Z650 (Organzine)
20/22 denier f4 S250 (Tram)
20/22 denier f4 S600 (Tram)
Niltex also imports custom-made yarns according to the special needs of its customers.
Originally a thrown silk yarn, silk carpet yarns are produced for carpet weaving. A number of raw silk threads are twisted together and then boiled in order to wash out the sericine. After the dyeing process the silk yarns are ready in skeins to be utilized in silk carpet weaving. These yarns are made of the finest 20/22 denier 4 A grade raw silk. In order to reach the standard thickness of these yarns 60 to 80 raws silk threads are twisted together. When the carpet is woven this high silk fiber content brings the luster and the shiny character of silk to the carpet.
Spun silk yarn is obtained from pierced cocoons and wastes of silk yarn that are left over during reeling. These imperfect yarns are boiled in order to wash out of fibers from sericine, then they are combed and cut into shorter fibers. Finally these fibers are spun into threads in various twists and thicknesses. Although inferior in strength to raw silk, spun silk has all the fine qualties of silk fibre. SSY has a creamy colour and is widely used in fabric weaving. The most common counts are;
60/1, 60/2, 120/2, 140/2
210/1, 210/2, 240/1, 240/2
Silk noil yarn is obtained from short fibers that are left over during spun silk production. The short, tangled bits remained are carded and then spun into a nubby thread which has some certain irregularities on the surface of the yarn. Due to its short fiber length the yarns need twisting to hold it together. SNY is widely used in upholstery and also in clothing fabrics. The most common counts are;
20/1, 30/1, 12/2 Nm
Dupioni yarns are reeled from double cocoons. The cocoons bind together during their growth stage and cause imperfections. During the spinning process the cocoons are not separated and the yarn is not even. From these imperfect cocoons, a yarn with irregular slubs is obtained. Dupioni silk yarn is utilized in the production of luxurious fabrics both for home textiles and clothing.
Silk blends very well with other natural fibers and adds its elegant qualities to those fibers. Blended silk yarns are utilized especially in clothing industry. Silk/wool, silk/linen and silk/cotton blends are very popular.
